An Israeli couple in their fifties who own a winery came to us one summer. They are seasoned players in the property market who own several flats in Europe.
At our first meeting, they were already very clear about their vision, about what they’re looking for and what we needed to provide. As with any other project in recent years, the first step consisted not of creating a budget or scheduling a meeting, but of creating a WhatsApp group in which everyone contributed their comments, ideas, and insights. We understood that we were seeking the ‘boho’ style. Having understood that, it was time to get to work.
A flat was found, albeit in rather bleak condition: it was dominated by brown colours, uninspiring wooden floorboards, and old-fashioned furniture. The first step was to remove the flat’s contents, most of which were sold. Everything that wasn’t sold was happily donated. Once the flat was empty, we wanted to bring light into it, and undo the bleak atmosphere that characterized this property. We surprisingly found a brightly coloured floor under the old floorboards, which was in excellent condition, and we painted the walls with bright colours that complemented the tiles. The flat was revitalised and was ready to be furnished.
The main idea was to create a pleasant, wholesome, and fully furnished Airbnb property.
We kept in touch with the owners throughout the renovations. Once we were done, we invited them to a weekend in the new flat so that they could gain an impression of it before we offered it on the short-term rental market. Of course, we made sure to bring in a bottle of good wine, a bowl of fresh fruit, and high-quality, locally made chocolate. The flat has since been leased and is receiving excellent reviews.
